The national cuisine of Estonia has its roots in the countryside. Many dishes have such ingredients as pork, potatoes, and garden vegetables. The locals also prefer to eat pickled pumpkin, pan cakes, crayfish, beet salad, herring and honey. The specialties of Estonia include Kotlet (a hamburger with onions), Verivorst (blood sausage), Kringel (German-style bread, sprinkled with nuts and raisins). The Estonian national drinks include locally made liquor, called Vana Tallinn, Saare beer and mulled wine.
